Upper C::Trip #9

Sunday, June 24, 2012

River: Upper Colorado
Put-in/Take-out: Pumphouse to Rancho Del Rio  11 miles
Flow: 860+ cfs (getting better)
Weather: Beautiful! Sunny, high 80s.
Other boaters: Nancy, Virgil, and about 5 other boats.
River flowing nicely with increased releases. A few boaters bailed at Radium.
Didn't get on the river until nearly 2 in the afternoon, slow floating with eddies, made the take-out and back to Pumphouse to de-rig, not home until after 9pm. Everyone bailed on me to go out to eat... it was past my bedtime.

Upper C::Trip #8

Friday, June 22, 2012

River: Upper Colorado
Put-in/Take-out: Pumphouse to Radium 4.5 miles
Flow: 800 cfs (getting better)
Weather: Beautiful! Sunny, high 80s.
Other boaters: My passenger was Leon Joseph Littlebird.
Just the two of us dudes, floating down the river... no other boaters with us.

Arkansas River::Brown's Canyon::Mini-Me

Thursday, June 21, 2012

River: Arkansas
Put-in/Take-out: Ruby Mountain to Hecla Junction 8.2 miles
Flow: 400 cfs (low flow, bony as hell)
Weather: Beautiful! Sunny, high 80s.
Other boaters: R2 Nancy's Mini-Me
Water levels were so low, the commercial trips were passing by the Fisherman's Bridge put-in and everyone was at Ruby.
Didn't want to scrape-up my boat & oars on all the rocks, so defaulted to paddling Nancy's boat.

Upper C::Trip #7

Father's Day, Sunday, June 17th, 2012

River: Upper Colorado
Put-in/Take-out: Pumphouse to Radium 4.5 miles
Flow: 730 cfs (low flow, but getting better)
Weather: Beautiful! Sunny (but, dammit; Windy), high 80s.
Other boaters: My passenger was my daughter, Stefanie!
The best Father's Day gift I could've hoped for was to spend this day with my daughter. I put her behind the oars for her first time...and her arms were sore after about 10 minutes.
Nancy was in her 'Flippy-Me' which didn't flip... Virgil, Hank & Melinda w/kids and A-Basin dude.
Wildlife: good fishing with increased flows & hatches.
Many fishermen on this stretch of water...and a few recreational boaters.
Not a lazy trip, only eddied-out once before canyon, then for lunch at the cottonwood tree.
